Jahncke, Charles "Charlie"
Passed away peacefully on March 11, 2010, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Moreau, New York on January 10, 1925. His parents Clarence and Anna then moved to Galena, Illinois where he lived until age 18 when he enlisted into the military. He served as a Corporal in the Army Air Force from 1943-1946 and went to Weather School at Berkley, California.
He met the love of his life Margie (nee Madson), in St. Nazianz, Wisconsin while working as a tree pruner. They married in 1950 in Milwaukee, while attending Marquette University. He graduated as an electrical engineer in 1953 and worked for Allis-Chalmers, designed electrical transformers until 1976 when he and his wife moved to Oklahoma City where he worked for SW Electric until retiring in 1992. He moved back to Milwaukee to spend retirement close to his family.
Charlie possessed a "green thumb" and loved planting flowers and trees. He enjoyed playing golf, cards and watching the Bears. Living in Packerland made Sunday football interesting! His love of God, family and friends superseded everything else.
He is survived by his wife "Margie", married just shy of 60 years. Loving father of Robert (Christie) Jahncke and Mary Kay (Tony) Hart. Proud grandpa of Jessica and Jennifer Hart, Stephen and Kellie Jahncke. Brother of Jim (Marlene) Jahncke. Further survived by many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother John.
A special "thank you" to all the caring staff at GoldenLiving – Heritage Square for being a special part of Charlie's life during his last few years.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 19, 2010 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the MAX A. SASS & SONS GREENRIDGE CHAPEL with a 7 pm prayer service.
Relatives and friends may join Charlie's family for the Mass of Christian Burial at ST. GREGORY THE GREAT CATHOLIC CHURCH, (60th and Oklahoma Ave.) on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 10am. Graveside services will be held in St. Nazianz, Wisconsin at 3 pm on Saturday.
